Scooter lifts are traditionally devices to lift scooters, and sometimes wheelchairs, into a vehicle. They were originally called trunk lifts but the days are long gone where a fully assembled scooter, let alone a trunk lift, would fit into the trunk of a car.
To deal with the smaller size of cars and the need of users to transport their scooters and wheelchairs manufacturers have developed new lifts and carriers to use with today's smaller vehicles.
The traditional trunk lifts are now re-designed to be used in vans, SUVs and pick up trucks and can often be configured to lift wheelchairs as well as scooters.
For vehicles such as cars that just don't have room for a scooter or wheelchair the industry has developed platform scooter carriers that are mounted on a trailer hitch receiver and can be used on almost any vehicle that can support a class 2 trailer hitch.
