    Transport Chair Information

Transport chairs are commonly referred to as companion chairs but regardless of what they are called, they are basically small lightweight wheelchair that are designed for a caregiver to use to transport a patient from one place to another.

A standard weight for a transport chair will be around 25 lbs but the lightweight models will be less than 20 lbs. The Ezee Life transport chairs fold and the footrests can be removed to make them easy to transport in vehicles or store away in the home.

Transport chairs do not provide any independent mobility for the user because the wheels are usually a set of four 8" casters instead of the normal large/small wheel combination found on conventional wheelchairs.

Because the transport chair will have these small wheels, these chairs do not roll well on rough or soft terrain. If there is an expectation that travelling on rough or soft terrain may be a fairly regular occurrence then a standard wheelchair may be a more suitable purchase.
